Question: How does rain influence in your music. Cause, when I listen to your music it reminds me of a wonderful, lazy rainy afternoon. I don't know. It's probably just me, but does this rain does probably have an influence on your music? Enya: I think the element of nature comes trough very much on the album. "A day without rain" and then we have "It's In The Rain". It's something that I like to do, is to go for a walk in the morning, before I go to work in the morning. It could be raining a little, you sit and you look at the Irish sea. It's very calming. It's a beautiful way to start the day. And in that regard I really appreciate, you know, a sort of, the environment, you know, that it is beautiful, I don't know how long it's gonna last like that, but live for the day, enjoy it for today and don't lose sight of that. But rain, if you are indoors, not outdoors can be very, a sort of, therapeutic. And can be very reflective. You know you sit there and you are kind of reminiscent it's like making you a sort of think and you know... and so it was a kind of like, that was the theme for the song. Take the moment... and what do you hear.. and what does it mean, it doesn't necessarily have to mean you're actually caught in the rain, it's more to do with being reflective, making you think about your life in general. (SAT1 TV, Nov. 2005) Question: I understand that you purchased a Victorian castle a few years ago. Enya: Yes, it was in the summer of '97 and I was looking for property to buy. It's in the suburbs of Dublin. I have to say that when I walked in, it's a small castle, the exterior is very much a castle, but the interior is very much of a homely feel. It's not this castle with huge corridors and huge ballrooms. (People Magazine, Dec 2000) |
