Don't they eat humans? NICHOLAS: She's not a lion, just like one, but smaller. She won't eat anyone, unless you decide to change into a bug or something. WISK: Or something? I think we need more specifics here. NICHOLAS: Okay. But just don't go really small on us. Blink, blink, blink. I'm naming you Blinkie. WISK: Phew! Okay, as long as you don't call her Hungry! What's up? Where are we goingWhat's up? Where are we going? NECILE: Nicholas is going to visit his people. WISK: Humans? Bad idea! No, thanks. I can't do that. Not allowed. NICHOLAS: Uh, Wisk I am human, remember? WISK: Oh, yeah, sorry. NICHOLAS: I can't very well understand them if I don't even know them, can I? Of course, you can't go. Besides, I need you to stay here to look after Blinkie and Mother for me, all right? WISK: Oh. Of course! I will stand guard! NECILE: I feel safer already. Take care, Nicholas. NICHOLAS: Don't worry. I'll be back in a few days. A child! ANDREW: Two of them. One don't speak, the other won't stop crying. NICHOLAS: Oh. Forgive my manners. I'm Nicholas. I just moved nearby. ANDREW: Name's Andrew. Wife's inside house, name's Martha. I haven't got much, but I suppose we could spare some. NICHOLAS: Oh, no. No, no, no, thank you. I just wanted to meet you and your childrenI just wanted to meet you and your children. ANDREW: Oh. Go on, then. MARTHA: Hush now, child. Hush. NICHOLAS: Hello, Martha. I am Nicholas, your husband said I should come say hello. MARTHA: Hello. NICHOLAS: May I? I have never seen a baby. MARTHA: Ugh. Won't stop crying, though. Never has. NICHOLAS: There, there now. It's not all that bad, is it? MARTHA: Well, I'll be... ANDREW: Stopped, eh? Well, bless me! NICHOLAS: Hello. And your name is? ANDREW: Megan. Won't talk. NICHOLAS: Oh. NICHOLAS: Really? I thought you were just leaning on that stick. It looks like a good, sturdy stick. And who says you're a cripple? ETHAN: Everybody. NICHOLAS: I don't know if a cripple could handle this big, old, heavy sack of mine. I could use some help, but... ETHAN: I can handle it. NICHOLAS: You are just leaning on that stick, are you not? ETHAN: I'll make you a leaning stick if you come backI'll make you a leaning stick if you come back. NICHOLAS: I'll come back. I promise. WISK: If it doesn't stop snowing soon you'll never be able to get back to those humans, huh? NICHOLAS: I don't know. But I promised. If only there were something I could leave behind. Something to cheer them and remind them I'll be back. WISK: I thought cats were supposed to be light on their feet! Hey, Blinkie, this kinda looks like you! Probably doesn't eat as much, though! NICHOLAS: This is the answerThis is the answer, Wisk! WISK: Great! What was the question? NICHOLAS: I'm very glad the Knooks left these tools. Silly cat. BOY: Help! Help me! Help! NICHOLAS: What... What is it, Blink? What's the matter? BOY: Help! NICHOLAS: Hello? MOGORB: Aw, gee. Isn't this sad? THOG: Yeah, I don't think he's gonna find the kid in time. MOGORB: They'll probably both freeze! THOG: Probably. NICHOLAS: Hello? Hello? Is anybody there? Whoa! Ethan? ETHAN: I made you a leaning stick, Nicholas. But you never came. NICHOLAS: It's all right, Ethan. We'll get you warmed up. MOGORB: I hate this Nicholas of Burzee! NICHOLAS: This stick is beautiful, Ethan. You did a great job. But you mustn't go so far from home. ETHAN: You do. NICHOLAS: Not in deep snow like this, I don't. That's why I haven't been back. Now, go to sleep.
NICHOLAS: Good morning. Say hello to Blinkie.
ETHAN: Can I pet her?
NICHOLAS: Sure. I made something for you as well, Ethan.
