Bambi | 3 | In the forest

THUMPER: It makes long ears and great big feet. But it sure is awful stuff to eat. I made that last part up myself. FROG: Watch out. BAMBI'S MOTHER: That's little Faline. FALINE: He's kind of bashful, isn't he, Mama?

Dialogues

AUNT ENA: Well, maybe he wouldn't be if you'd say hello. FALINE: Hello, Bambi. I said hello. BAMBI'S MOTHER: Well, aren't you going to answer her? You're not afraid, are you? Well, then, go ahead. Go on, say hello. BAMBI: Hello. You. He stopped and looked at me. Yes, BAMBI'S MOTHER: I know. BAMBI: Why was everyone still when he came on the meadow? BAMBI'S MOTHER: Everyone respects him. For of all the deer in the forest, not one has lived half so long. He's very brave and very wise. That's why he's known as the Great Prince of the Forest. BAMBI'S MOTHER: Faline. Bambi. Mother. Bambi. BAMBI: Mother. BAMBI'S MOTHER: Come on out, Bambi. Come on. It's safe now. We don't have to hide any longer. BAMBI: What happened, Mother? Why did we all run? BAMBI'S MOTHER: Man was in the forest. BAMBI: Mother, look. What's all that white stuff? BAMBI'S MOTHER: Why, it's snow. BAMBI: Snow? BAMBI'S MOTHER: Yes. Winter has come.

Notes

An unnamed squirrel and an unnamed chipmunk briefly appear in the film. They were originally supposed to have a larger role in the film as a comedy duo. They would be the film's own version of Laurel and Hardy. Walt Disney decided to cut their scenes and focus on the leading trio of Bambi, Flower, and Thumper.

Produced in 1942 by The Walt Disney Studios.

Pre-production began in 1936 and was intended to be Walt Disney's second full-length animated film after Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937). Disney's perfection and quest for realism delayed the project significantly, so that Pinocchio (1940) (the 2nd film in the Walt Disney Animated Classics), Fantasia (1940), The Reluctant Dragon (1941), and Dumbo (1941) were released earlier than Bambi.
