a single drop of sunlight fell from the heavens. And from this small drop of sun grew a magic golden flower. It had the ability to heal the sick and injured. Oh, you see that old woman over there? You might want to remember her. She's kind of important. Centuries passed and a hop, skip and a boat ride away there grew a kingdom. The kingdom was ruled by a beloved king and queen. And the queen was about to have a baby. But she got sick. Really sick. She was running out of time, and that's when people start to look for a miracle. Or in this case, a magic golden flower. Ah! I told you she'd be important. Instead of sharing the sun's gift, this woman, Mother Gothel, hoarded its healing power and used it to keep herself youngfor hundreds of years. And all she had to dowas sing a special song: "Flower, gleam and glow, let your power shine, make the clock reverse, bring back what once was mine, what once was mine."
Soundtracks: When Will My Life Begin, Mother Knows Best, I've Got a Dream, I See the Light, Healing Incantation, Flynn Wanted, Horse with No Rider, Campfire, Kingdom Dance, Waiting For the Lights, Return to Mother, Realization and Escape, The Tear Heals, Kingdom Celebration, Something That I Want
RAPUNZEL: This is it! This is a very big day, Pascal. I'm finally going to do it. I'm going to ask her.
MOTHER GOTHEL: Rapunzel! Let down your hair!
RAPUNZEL: It's time! I know, I know. Come on. Don't let her see you.
MOTHER GOTHEL: Rapunzel! I'm not getting...
RAPUNZEL: Okay. Huh.
FLYNN RIDER: Huh? What... Is this hair?
RAPUNZEL: Struggling... Struggling is pointless.
FLYNN RIDER: Huh?
RAPUNZEL: I know why you're here, and I'm not afraid of you.
FLYNN RIDER: What?
RAPUNZEL: Who are you? And how did you...
RAPUNZEL: Okay, Flynn Rider, I'm prepared to offer you a deal.
FLYNN RIDER: Deal?
RAPUNZEL: Look this way. Do you know what...
RAPUNZEL: So, Eugene Fitzherbert, huh?
FLYNN RIDER: Ah, yeah. Well... I'll spare you the sob story of poor...
FLYNN RIDER: Huh? Well, I hope you're here to apologise. No...
RAPUNZEL: Give me...
Tangled employed a unique artistic style by blending features of both computer-generated imagery (CGI) and traditional animation together, while utilizing non-photorealistic rendering to create the impression of a painting.
Like other recent Disney animated features, Tangled is supported in retail stores by a line of toys and other merchandise. Many of the Rapunzel dolls emphasize her hair, while some also include sound clips from the film.
In order to market the film to both sexes, Disney changed the film's name from Rapunzel to Tangled while also emphasizing Flynn Rider, the film's prominent male character
Sales of Tangled in the US and Canada exceeded $95 million in DVD and Blu-ray sales, the highest grossing DVD of the year to date; its home video sales exceeded the film's earnings in its first week in theaters.
The film earned $590 million in worldwide box-office revenue, $200 million of which was earned in the United States and Canada. Tangled was nominated for a number of awards, including Best Original Song at the 83rd Academy Awards. The film was released on Blu-ray and DVD on March 29, 2011; an animated short sequel, Tangled Ever After, was released in 2012.
Tangled won best 3D scene of the year at the second annual International 3D Society Creative Arts Awards.
