When Steele brings a string of sausage links by to woo Jenna, he suggests she start on one end and he on the other and that they meet in the middle and see where it goes, putting aside what he's getting at, he's clearly trying to recreates the spaghetti-eating scene from Lady and the Tramp (1955).

Boris is rarely seen flying, even when it would be helpful to do so. In the third film, Balto III: Wings of Change (2004), it's finally explained that he is a literal acrophobic bird.

The steam engine waiting at the Nenana depot is from the Alaska Railroad. Because of a storm, the Alaska Railroad was only able to send the serum from Anchorage to Nenana.
